THANK A TRUCKER

THANK A TRUCKER

We partnered with a local BC business in Prince George to provide 100 free meals to truckers.

Last week Canadas Energy Citizens partnered with the BC Trucking Association (BCTA) and Jeremy Jean of Smokey J’s Smoked MMMeats to purchase 100 meals for truck drivers in the Prince George Area.

COVID-19 is an unprecedented crisis and we wanted to highlight something fundamental in both the Oil and Gas sector, but also in the everyday lives of Canadians. The truck drivers who ensure that goods are delivered across this country every day. Truck drivers are making sure grocery stores and pharmacies are stocked when we need it most and hauling equipment to job sites around the country.

Over the past few weeks we have asked Canada’s Energy Citizens to donate blood to Canadian Blood Services and support their local food banks. Smokey J’s reached out to the BCTA after installing safety equipment to his food truck suggesting that he would be happy to serve truckers and we knew this was the perfect opportunity to partner. Our donation of 100 meals to truckers was part of a broader initiative from the BCTA’s Meals for Truck Drivers pilot program. This pilot project is meant to provide a hot meal to those who are putting in long hours moving our country in this challenging time.

“During this COVID-19 crisis, the BC Trucking Association, in partnership with Parkland Fuel/Chevron, is supporting professional truck drivers by helping to ensure they have access to hot meals and washrooms. Truck drivers are providing crucial services to BC communities, so it is incredibly heartening to have Canada’s Energy Citizens step up to sponsor 100 meals for truck drivers at Smokey J’s Smoked MMMeats for our food truck launch at the Prince George card lock. Truck drivers deserve such kindness, and we’re grateful to our partners and sponsors for providing it”

-Cory Paterson from the BC Trucking Association.

We’re proud to have made a small difference on behalf of Canada’s Energy Citizens. We want everyone to know that they can make an impact by supporting truckers and by using the hashtag #thankatrucker.

OUTREACH TEAM VISITS KAMLOOPS & 100 MILE HOUSE

When we talk about 100 Mile House and the City of Kamloops the title “oil and gas towns” rarely come to mind. Forestry and mining are usually considered to be this region’s main focus. What you might not know is that while these communities don’t directly extract oil & gas in the upstream they are major transportation hubs for the oil and gas infrastructure in British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest.
